Tourist Numbers Drop 80 Percent In Region

Radio Romania Brasov 14d11d Impact 5
Accommodation occupancy rates in the Brasov and Bran-Moeciu areas are expected to be higher for the May 1st period than during Easter, but significantly lower than last year. Hotel and pension administrators attribute the decline to rising inflation, decreased purchasing power, and the elimination of vacation vouchers. This represents a 20 percent level compared to the total visitors received in March of the previous year. The exodus of tourists is significantly impacting the local economy, according to special correspondent Yannick du Mont-Barron. The decline is described as a fivefold decrease in volume.
