Russia Introduces Unified Retail Classification System

Experts report that one in every twenty retail stores has closed in Moscow. Russian authorities have introduced a project to impose imprisonment for violations of cryptocurrency legislation. Social media is reportedly filled with videos showing business closures throughout Russia. The source noted that the economic bottom may not have been reached yet. The report indicates the company had already moved to close these locations prior to the current staff reductions. The scale of redundancies is approximately 1,000 workers following the closure of 145 stores. Large non-food retailers in Russia are transitioning to smaller store formats with more curated product assortments. Major companies including Melon Fashion Group, Zarina, and Seliga are developing these smaller objects. The shift also includes retailers such as Detsky Mir and Imvideo, according to reports from Izvestia. Roskachevo reported that a new document classifies all retail formats into a unified system. The classification includes large hypermarkets, supermarkets, and warehouse stores, as well as small minimarkets, pavilions, and kiosks. For the first time, the standard includes logistics objects and digital platforms such as distribution centers, sorting centers, pickup points, and automated parcel lockers.
