German Airport Association Demands Fuel Discounts
The German Airport Association (ADV) is calling for fuel discounts for airlines to mitigate rising costs. Kerosene supply is currently secured for the foreseeable future despite projected price increases. The ADV suggests that a two-month fuel discount should have been accompanied by a suspension of aviation tax. The German federal government may still address these pricing concerns to protect consumers in the second half of the year. The group warns that competition for global market fuel is driving prices higher while the aviation system faces potential collapse. They noted that connecting flights are often operated by different airlines, complicating individual relief efforts.
