Global Purchasing Managers' Index Rises To 50.7
The Nikkei 225 index rose by 573 points to reach 6,202.29 points. The Nikkei average closed 228.20 yen higher at 59,513.12 yen in the Tokyo stock market. This increase was driven by stronger gains in new orders, exports, and factory output. Increased hiring and purchasing activity were also reported. An expert noted that while business optimism is growing, supply chain pressures persist due to shipping disruptions in the Middle East and a global material shortage.
