Stock Markets Show Mixed Performance
Global stock markets have shown a strong recovery in the two weeks following a ceasefire announcement. Pakistan's market has risen approximately 13% in dollar terms this month. Vietnam's market has increased by about 10%, while Sri Lanka's has seen an 8% rise. This recovery occurs despite ongoing uncertainty stemming from regional conflicts. Stock markets in Pakistan, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka have shown strong recovery following a March correction. High oil prices over the last two months continue to impact net oil importers including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam. Uncertainty remains regarding global oil supply issues. This recovery follows a period of market weakness in March and a recent ceasefire announcement. The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached 49,163.4 points while the S&P 500 stood at 7,133.40 points.
