Russian Savings Become Primary Economic Funding Source
SberIndex reports a mass transition in Russian consumer behavior from a consumption strategy to a savings model. The data indicates that citizens are increasingly prioritizing savings, often by reducing budget expenditures. This shift in market behavior was noted by the company during a report on Monday. Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiulina stated that Russian savings have become the main source of financing for the national economy. She noted that Western capital markets have been effectively closed to Russian companies since 2022. Consequently, businesses can no longer borrow money normally from abroad. The economy must now rely on internal resources and domestic savings to fund development.
