Migros CEO Warns Of Staff Shortages Impacting Stores
Migros, a large Swiss retailer, is experiencing recruitment difficulties, with approximately one thousand positions remaining vacant. The shortages are particularly acute in bakeries, general store operations, and meat processing facilities. At Mikanerna, the group's meat division, 60% of employees are foreign nationals, a figure that rises to 90% in the cutting workshops. The company's director general warned that without immigration, Migros stores would experience reduced sales. Mario Irminger, CEO of Migros, warned that staff shortages could lead to fewer store branches, reduced meat selections, and shorter operating hours.
