FSB Controls Information Flow In Russia
The flow of Russian tourists to Turkey this year could approach 7 million people. The Federal Security Service (FSB) is taking away the primary tool of information dissemination, according to Radio Svoboda. This process is described as inevitable and a consequence of vertical power structures. The longer Putin remains in power, the further he becomes from reality, as officials report what he wants to hear. Russian authorities significantly narrowed the information field and attempted to impose full control. In 1953, approximately 185 magazines and newspapers were shut down for being 'bourgeois.' The state then allowed only about a dozen publications that were entirely under the control of the party elite, such as Pravda and Izvestia. This move drastically reduced the information landscape and aimed for complete control.
