Approximately 4 in 10 workers under the age of 30 in Portugal hold temporary contracts. The report was released on International Workers' Day, according to journalist António José Soares. Portugal's average salary is approximately 2,000 euros, which is below the European Union average of 3,300 euros. While the country's employment rate is above the average, productivity levels vary across the EU. The report notes that countries with fewer working hours, such as Denmark at 33.6 hours per week, often rank among the most productive.
