US Sanctions Target Chinese Refineries Linked To Iranian Oil
Washington has imposed direct sanctions on Chinese companies and the Al-Shal refineries to bypass traditional banking systems. These refineries are reportedly responsible for purchasing between 80% and 90% of Iranian oil exports. The volume of these purchases is estimated to be between 1.4 million and 1.5 million barrels. The sanctions aim to disrupt the flow of Iranian oil through these specific entities. Washington has imposed direct sanctions on the Chinese Hengli refinery and the Abariq al-Shal refinery. These facilities are identified as part of the shadow fleet that handles the majority of Iranian oil exports. Data indicates these specific refineries are key points in the movement of Iranian petroleum products. The Ministry of Commerce spokesperson announced on May 2nd that the United States has implemented sanctions against five Chinese companies.
