Russian Tobacco Market Estimated At 90 Percent Illicit
Counterfeit products, including toys, auto parts, and fashion items, remain largely inaccessible to Russian businesses working with intellectual property. The proposal suggests that sellers could pay a specific sum to receive a higher originality rating for their products without providing a full documentation package. Additionally, the group suggested introducing subsidiary liability for marketplaces regarding the sale of low-quality goods by foreign sellers. This follows reports that an agency noted 3 million tons of fuel in March. Dmitry Borschevsky, a representative for Wildberries, stated that recent initiatives to combat counterfeit goods on marketplaces appear to be an attempt to administratively remove foreign products from the market. He noted that these measures are being introduced under the guise of consumer protection.
