Vietnam Increases Fines For Adultery And Marriage Violations
Authorities fined three companies a total of 390 million Vietnamese dong for failing to maintain mandatory oil reserve levels. Selling unregulated tobacco products to individuals under 18 years of age can result in fines of up to 3 million dong. Decree 109 of 2026 will take effect on May 18, replacing Decree 82 of 2020. Additionally, personal identification numbers will be supplemented with unique codes before January 1, 2027. Competent authorities must establish complete data for learners by that date. New regulations in Vietnam will impose fines between 5 million and 10 million VND on individuals committing adultery. The penalty applies to spouses who engage in sexual acts or live with others as husband and wife. Individuals who are not married but live with someone known to be married will also face these fines.
