Hong Kong Launches Crackdown On Illegal Tour Guides
A report from the Global Trade Outlook and Statistics indicates Hong Kong has risen to become the world's fifth-largest economy in terms of commodity trade. Officers have distributed leaflets at tourism hotspots including West Kowloon Cultural District, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Wong Tai Sin. The authority advised the public to contact authorities or police if treated unfairly by merchants. The Hong Kong Department of Health issued four fixed penalty notices during inspections yesterday afternoon. Lin Wencong, a director at the Tobacco Control Office, stated that officials will take immediate action if illegal products are discovered. The department expressed belief that the new regulations will not negatively impact the tourism industry. Public hospitals are also noted to be monitoring visiting hours for certain wards.
