German Companies Face Rising Material Shortages
Approximately 14 percent of German companies reported shortages in the procurement of intermediate products in April, according to a survey by the Munich-based Ivo Institute. This is an increase from nearly 6 percent reported in January. The institute attributed these constraints to shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. An Ivo-Institut survey indicates that material shortages are increasing within German industry. The institute cited shipping restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz as a contributing factor. Shipping restrictions increased by 0.2 percent compared to the previous month, which is noted as unusual for the season. Approximately 10% of companies reported lacking essential intermediate products in April, compared to nearly 1% in March. The conflict in Iran is impacting the production and delivery of helium.
