Deutschlandticket Prices May Increase Annually
Industry experts warn the Deutschlandticket may become more expensive annually if the German federal government does not provide additional funding. Ingo Wortmann stated that current costs are not covered and support can only be maintained through higher prices. Transport Minister Patrick Schneider stated that no additional funds will be provided but the ticket will remain available until 2030. Opposition politicians have criticized the lack of funding as a mistake. Higher prices may be necessary to maintain service levels, according to Jan Zimmermann of NDR 2 Berlin.
