Golden Globes Lay Down New AI Rules
The Golden Globes organization will require productions to report any use of generative artificial intelligence during the creative process. This rule specifically targets AI that affects an actor's appearance or voice. Performances must primarily stem from human work, meaning AI-generated performances will be ineligible to compete. The organization will permit AI use for technical or cosmetic touch-ups provided the underlying performance remains human. These regulations follow similar measures announced by the Hollywood Academy last week. The Golden Globes announced that the use of artificial intelligence will not automatically disqualify a movie from being nominated. However, the organization stated that AI may not replace the core creative contributions of human talent used to make a film.
