Russian Language Book Fair Held In Berlin
A book fair for Russian-language literature begins this week in Berlin. The event focuses on authors and literary creators living in exile outside of Russia. These writers are actively seeking new ways to reach their readers despite being outside their home country. The event includes dedicated discussions for translators to encourage more German translations of these texts. The fair is described as a private initiative. The event is scheduled to run from May 1 to May 3. Olga Chesnokova, the head of the Russian Literature Fair Berlin, provided details regarding the initiative. The fair is described as a form of community protest through literature. Some of these individuals have been designated as foreign agents by the Russian government due to their critical stances. Many publishers have moved operations abroad to bypass Kremlin censorship.
