Asaka Palace Exhibition Details Animal Motifs, Zoo History
Art Council Tokyo, in collaboration with Culture Collage, has announced an architectural exhibition for 2026 titled 'Animals in Asaka-no-miya Tei.' The exhibition will explore the appearance of the former Asaka-no-miya Palace through the presence of animals. The Art Council Tokyo's 'Animals in Asaka-no-miya Tei' exhibition is also referred to as 'Architectural Public Opening 2026', allowing visitors to view the former Asaka-no-miya Palace. The 'Animals in Asakanomiya-te' exhibition, part of the Architectural Public Opening 2026, will reveal the appearance of the former Asakanomiya Palace from the presence of animals. The annual exhibition at Asaka Palace focuses on the interior decoration and the space of the palace itself. The prevalence of animal motifs is partly attributed to the establishment of modern zoos in the late 18th century.
