Berlin Center Proposed For Anti-Black Racism, Colonial History

The first Black Communities Center in Germany opened today in the African Quarter of Berlin-Wedding. The center serves as a space for community, exchange, and education regarding the situation of Black people in Germany. The opening also marked the start of the second UN Decade for People of African Descent. The facility was established to address issues such as anti-Black racism. The center aims to provide resources and support for the Black population in the city. Social Senator Kanze Kieselthepe stated the center is part of a measures plan developed after the first UN Decade for People of African Descent. The state of Berlin was able to purchase the property to establish the center. The city of Berlin successfully purchased the property to facilitate the center's opening. The center would also include a library and focus on processing German colonial history.
