Taiping Princess Intervenes In Li Meng's Father's Case

A narrative segment described a plot involving Princess Taiping and a character named Yu Xian. Yu Xian remained distressed by the death of her sister, Zhao Jie. Lai Junchen stated that Wang Han, Wang Zhiwan, and Ding Jiao should all be executed, and anyone in Wang Han's household who knew of the situation but did not report it should be exiled three thousand li. Yu Xian was held in the Eastern Capital Luoyang's Dao Shu Fang, a prison guarded by soldiers, which only reopened after the fall of the Sui Dynasty. This prison was later granted to Prince Li Tai by the Tang Emperor, but after Li Tai's failed power struggle with Crown Prince Li Chengqian, he was demoted. The Dao Shu Fang then reverted to its original purpose. Song Jing, from the Imperial Censorate, summoned Lai Junchen to the court. Lai Junchen, who had previously served as Deputy Imperial Censor, was angered by the summons, having been previously disgraced and opposed by court officials, though protected by Wu Zetian. However, this was unproven and could not be shared externally to avoid Wang Han or falsely accusing Prince Li Tai. Empress Wu Zetian strongly protected him, but court officials opposed him. Yang Gong decided not to inquire further. Wang Zhihuan questioned the marriage between the royal family and the five great families, noting that the court had previously forbidden such unions.
