Patti LuPone Discusses Artist Responsibility
Kathleen Sabagal, director of the Rose Archives and Museum at Carnegie Hall, discussed Patti LuPone's 12 performances at the venue. Six of these were headlining shows, including a benefit concert after 'Evita' and a revival of her show 'Matters of the Heart' from 25 years ago. Longtime collaborators Scott Whitman and Jeffrey Richmond have put together new arrangements for Patti LuPone. The show includes work originally performed with pianist and music director Dick Gallagher. Gallagher passed away in the early 2000s. The production was also recorded as a studio album. Her music director, Joseph Falcon, first worked with her in the 1990s. LuPone studied at Juilliard and has collaborated with playwright David Mamet since 1976. Theater performer Patti LuPone addressed her involvement in political activism during a broadcast.
