National Monument Vandalized With Red Paint
The National Monument on Dam Square in Amsterdam has been defaced with red paint. Cleaners are currently working to remove the paint, according to AT5. The identity of those responsible for the act remains unknown. The incident was reported by L1 Radio Limburg. Prime Minister Jetten described the action as idiotic and completely unacceptable on the day of Remembrance Day. Local residents expressed anger and described the incident as scandalous. It is currently unclear if the damage was intended to seek attention. Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema stated the graffiti is offensive to those for whom the memorial service is. The incident occurred ahead of a memorial service scheduled for that evening. Red paint was sprayed onto a monument in Amsterdam. Mayor Halsma published photos showing the defaced monument.
