Artist Accused of Falsifying Ancient Artifacts
An individual named Vicente Amat, a watchmaker from Giecla, is accused of falsifying numerous ancient Iberian pieces. These forged artifacts were allegedly sold to prestigious institutions like the British Museum and the Louvre. Another artist, Soroya, known for ivory sculptures, also lost his reputation by selling ivory figurines as ancient. He reportedly sold fans and small chests to New York, passing them off as Arabic artifacts.
