Concept Artist Tim Urichs Dies At 86
Concept artist Tim Ulrichs died yesterday at the age of 86, according to the Kunstverein Hannover citing his family. Ulrichs was an emeritus professor at the Münster Academy of Art and lived in Hannover and Berlin. He was considered a pioneer of conceptual art and famously tattooed the words 'the end' on his right eyelid in the early 1960s. He was described as a pioneer who shaped art through provocative works, including concrete casts of his own skull titled "Kopfsteinpflaster." Ulrichs also served as a professor at the Kunstakademie Münster. The Berlin-born artist was known for his self-staging, including creating a concrete gravestone.
