Russia Deported 190,000 People From Northeast Regions
Over 190,000 people were deported from parts of Asia and northeastern Russia, according to Hromadske Radio. Survivors were placed in special settlements described as resembling labor camps. Deportees were used as cheap labor and faced hunger, exhaustion, and disease in the years following resettlement. The report noted that Crimean Tatars specifically suffered from these conditions.
