Analysts suggest oil prices could approach $120 a barrel if supply disruptions reach a tipping point. Piracy in the Horn of Africa has evolved from opportunistic attacks to more systematic targeting of specific vessels. Analysts noted that while the underlying logic of piracy is old, the current methods represent a new development. Any shutdowns in the region threaten local livelihoods. Defense forces previously managed to suppress piracy in the Horn of Africa approximately 10 to 15 years ago. Authorities are in continuous contact with the affected vessels.
