Iran Faces Leadership Crisis After Death Of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
The Wall Street Journal reported that a plan has been ordered for a long-term siege against Iran. The BBC World Service reported that American sailors were picked up by the Iranian military in Iranian territory. Video footage shows the 10 sailors on their knees with hands up during capture. Secretary of State John Kerry thanked Iran for cooperation as the sailors were released within 24 hours. The source noted that John Kerry previously coordinated with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif to secure the release of sailors within 24 hours in a similar past instance. Bloomberg reports that Iranian authorities are using transfers to store extracted oil because field tanks are filling up, potentially diminishing long-term storage capacity. This trend suggests storage capacity may be exhausted within several years.
