UN Reports High Sexual Violence Victim Requests In Sudan
The United Nations issued an alert regarding the widespread use of rape and sexual violence as weapons of war in the Sudan conflict. These acts are causing severe mental health consequences for victims. Doctors Without Borders reported at least 3,400 female survivors seeking care in Darfur last month. Medical care conditions for these victims are described as appalling. The United Nations reported that over 3,000 requests for protection from sexual violence were received by Doctors Without Borders in the Darfur region. These requests were recorded between January 2024 and November 2025. The report follows recent shelling in the town of Majdal Zun in Tyre, which resulted in the deaths of three paramedics. A survivor described the impact of the shelling to the BBC.
