Ceasefire Takes Effect Starting May 9
A ceasefire is currently in effect and is scheduled to last until May 10 and 11. The Israeli army issued an evacuation warning for residents of nine municipalities in southern Lebanon, stating it would carry out attacks. This action follows the army's claim that Hezbollah violated the existing ceasefire. US President Joe Biden proposed the 1000-for-1000 prisoner exchange, which was supported by Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky. Donald Trump announced the truce and claimed paternity for it, stating he was 'rejoiced' that Presidents Putin and Zelensky accepted the proposal. The White House confirmed this ceasefire includes the suspension of all use of force, in addition to the 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner exchange. Trump expressed hope that this marks the beginning of the end of the war.
