Russia Reports Major Conflicts Despite May 8-9 Truce
Kyiv violated a ceasefire announced by President Vladimir Putin for Victory Day celebrations. The truce began at midnight and is set to last until May 10, during which Russian forces committed not to strike Ukrainian military locations or defense industry targets deep in Ukraine. Russia's Ministry of Defense urged Kyiv to follow the example and warned of an adequate response if Ukraine violates the ceasefire. Armed forces warned they would give an adequate response if the Armed Forces of Ukraine violate the ceasefire. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that since early morning on the 7th, Ukrainian forces struck several Russian facilities, including a warship and a joint oil field in Russia's Perm border region, over 1500 km away.
