Tuareg Separatists Recapture Kidal In Mali
Russian Wagner Group mercenaries and Malian armed forces prevented an attempt to seize the presidential palace this weekend. The attacks caused damage that government and public officials are currently assessing. A curfew remains in effect as authorities work to secure the city and other attacked locations. JNIM is affiliated with Al Qaeda and is reportedly working alongside Tuareg separatist rebels from the north. The attacks are being carried out by the Al Qaeda-affiliated group JNIM in coordination with Tuareg separatist rebels from the north. The jihadist group JNIM is responsible for violence in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. The group has also recently expanded operations into Northwest Nigeria, Northern Benin, Northern Côte d'Ivoire, and Northern Togo. This territorial expansion is expected to lead to contention regarding regional territory management.
