French Aircraft Carrier Charles de Gaulle Deploys To Red Sea
A French nuclear-powered aircraft carrier is moving from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea to support freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz following a potential end to hostilities. The movement follows a drop in international oil prices after reports that the United States and Iran were close to a deal. Brent crude oil futures for July delivery closed at $101.27 per barrel on the London ICE exchange, a 7.83% decrease. West Texas Intermediate crude for June delivery closed at $95.08 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The deployment aims to enhance security in the region. France has deployed its naval vessel, the "D'Estaing," to the southern Red Sea to enhance regional security and prepare for multinational navigation activities in the Strait of Hormuz. The French Navy has deployed a warship to the Red Sea to bolster regional security.
