Malian Defense Minister Killed in Suicide Car Attack

Tuareg rebels launched attacks in Kidal, northern Mali, targeting the ruling military council. Attacks in Bamako have left several Spanish citizens trapped, though some have already been repatriated. The situation in the north is confirmed following the departure of Wagner mercenaries, now known as the Africa Corps, from the city of Kidal. Attacks have also been recorded in the capital, Bamako, where several Spanish citizens participating in a Ministry of Foreign Affairs music festival were reportedly trapped. Some Spanish nationals have already been repatriated from Bamako. The loss of Kidal follows the departure of the Wagner Group/Africa Corps. Attacks involving jihadist groups and independence fighters from the FLA and TIR were reported in Kati near Bamako on Sunday. Authorities in Gao have also reported repositioning efforts. Malian armed groups targeted the residence of Defense Minister General Sadyo Kamerah. The attack was a kamikaze strike on a residence in the garrison town of Kati near Bamako, attributed to JNIM jihadists and Tuareg separatists. Malian Minister of State for Defense and Veterans Affairs, Sadio Camara, was killed in a terrorist attack in Kidal. The incident has further destabilized control in northern regions including Kidal, Timbuktu, and Gao.
