Iran Warns Foreign Forces In Hormuz Strait
The Iranian military fired two missiles at a US frigate attempting to enter the Strait of Hormuz near the Iranian port of Jask. This warning follows a CIA statement that the agency will support 'Operation Freedom' starting May 4 to restore commercial shipping freedom in the strait. State Department and Department of Defense are collaborating on the 'Maritime Freedom Framework' to combine diplomatic and military coordination. The Iranian commander stated that while the sea can be calm, it also faces storms, implying readiness for conflict. US Central Command denied reports that US Navy vessels were struck by Iranian missiles. AXS Marine data shows 500 crossings of the Strait of Hormuz have been recorded since March 1. These crossings include vessels entering or exiting the Persian Gulf. The majority of the 414 oil tankers in the area have been blocked since the start of the conflict.
