Colombia Reports 19 Deaths in Cauca Attacks
The Governor of Cauca reported 14 deaths and 38 injuries resulting from recent violence in the Colombian department. Among the injured are five minors. The official updated the figures via X, noting that initial reports had only indicated seven deaths and 17 injuries. Nineteen people have died following a wave of terrorist violence in the Cauca department and southwest Colombia. Attorney General Gregorio Elhash issued a formal call to national and local authorities to address the violence. Elhash also urged the Congress of the Republic, departmental assemblies, and municipal councils to fulfill their political oversight roles. The attacks occurred in the recent days leading up to the report.
