Myanmar President Prioritizes Peace And Stability

Myanmar military leader Min Aung Hlaing met with officials in Naypyidaw to discuss a framework to end the ongoing civil war. The meeting addressed Myanmar's sovereignty, territorial security, and national stability. Discussions also covered increased cooperation to combat online gambling and telecommunications fraud. The nation remains in a civil war involving ethnic armed groups fighting the military government since the 2021 coup. State media MRTV confirmed the meeting took place. The shortages are impacting more than just agriculture, according to the report. The pledge comes as harvest disruptions continue to affect the region. She was arrested five years ago following the Gon Ta coup. Her initial sentence of 33 years in prison had previously been reduced to 23 years. Myanmar's newly elected President Minh Au Ho Lenh stated during his inauguration on April 3, that his government's top priorities are peace, stability, and ethnic reconciliation. This follows an amnesty period on April 17 that released over 4,300 prisoners, including 179 foreign nationals. The amnesty coincided with the release of former President Aung San Suu Kyi.
