Israel Detains Aid Boat Crew Off Crete
Israeli forces arrested Brazilian Tiago Avila and others on Thursday during the interception of humanitarian boats near Crete, in international waters. The Israeli military reported striking Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. Activists were detained on an Israeli ship in Greek waters. The incident occurred between Wednesday and Thursday. The boat was reportedly attempting to reach Gaza. The crew has been missing since Wednesday night. There is a strong perception that this detention was a result of pressure and public outrage. It is unclear if the decision to disembark others in Greece was made later. Global emergency fleet activists have condemned Israel's illegal detention of two crew members from an aid flotilla heading to Gaza.
