US Military Ammunition Inventory Includes $17B in Missiles
Washington has prepared a stockpile of long-range munitions and defense systems valued at approximately $17 billion. The inventory includes over 1,000 Tomahawk missiles and roughly 1,100 stealthy long-range missiles. Additionally, the deployment features more than 1,050 Patriot missiles and approximately 100 THAAD systems to manage target threats. These assets are intended to address industrial and infrastructure targets. These systems face production limitations and slow replacement rates that could take years to return to pre-war levels. Some systems were originally intended for deterring different types of adversaries, such as China in the Pacific. The scale of the munitions deployment reflects US strategic planning for high-capacity engagement. Replenishing precision offensive munitions and other systems may take years due to limited production and slow replacement rates.
