Malian Military Declares Control After Offensives
General Asim Agouta was exfiltrated from Kati to an undisclosed safe location following coordinated attacks across five Malian localities. These attacks were reportedly coordinated with an Akeda-linked group. Reports of gunfire began emerging in Mali around 6:00 AM local time. The attacks involved the FLA and were reportedly coordinated with the Al-Qaeda-linked group JNIM. The exact number of casualties and the total number of people impacted by the fighting remain unconfirmed. Curfews have been implemented in several cities and are expected to last for the next three days. The military has characterized the current scale of attacks as the largest coordinated engagements in recent years. Nighttime movement restrictions remain in effect from 9pm to 8am local time. The military action follows a long-running and complicated insurgency in the country.
