Iran Judicial Chief Supports Dialogue With US
Iran represents an existential threat to Islam due to its pursuit of nuclear weapons, according to Al Jazeera Arabic Voice. Consequences of the conflict include impacts on the world economy, the Strait of Hormuz itself, OPEC, and the Israel conflict. Iran has promised to respond with painful and prolonged attacks as the conflict approaches the 60-day mark. Tehran has activated air defense systems against drones and small aircraft. Offensives continue in Lebanon despite a truce announced on April 8 and extended by President Trump. Friday prayer leaders in Tehran stated that the Strait of Hormuz is not a subject for negotiation with the United States and called negotiations with the US spiritually meaningless. Cleric Mohammad Javad Hajali stated that the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz are excluded from the scope of negotiations with the U.S.
