Coordinated Attacks in Kidal Cause Heavy Smoke
Russian specialists have initiated a large-scale military operation against radical Islamists in northern Mali. Additionally, the group targeted the capital's airport. Rebels targeted the international airport, Ministry of Defense, and government seat in Bamako, while also claiming control of the strategic northern city of Kidal. Rebel forces have reportedly seized the strategic city of Kidal in northern Mali. Multiple cities in the country's interior were also reportedly hit by the militants. Approximately 10,000 militants from three groups, including the Azawad National Liberation Movement, Al-Nusra, and the Macina Katiba, carried out complex, simultaneous attacks in Kidal near the airport. The UN security memorandum described the coordinated assault as a event in the region.
