Iran Successfully Managing External Challenges
China has been urged to continue playing an active role in achieving a swift cessation of hostilities and supporting a new post-war regional framework that integrates development and security. China has called for a deal to end hostilities and reopen the Hormuz Strait following talks with Iran's top diplomat in Beijing. The discussions focused on regional stability and maritime access. The call follows recent diplomatic engagements between Chinese and Iranian officials. US Secretary of State Rubio stated on May 5th that the US would take a stronger response if Iran takes military action. Negotiations regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would involve a complex, multi-phase process. The first 30 days would focus exclusively on methods to reopen the strait, potentially followed by nuclear negotiations and regional security dialogues with neighboring countries.
