Bacteria Detected In Long Island Water
Flesh-eating bacteria have been identified in waters near Long Island. Deadly flesh-eating bacteria has been detected in multiple swimming locations across Long Island, New York. The discovery was reported following recent environmental monitoring in the area. Symptoms of the bacteria include fever, chills, vomiting, diarrhea, and worsening skin infections if left untreated. Marine life expert Dr. Chris Gobler of Stony Brook University warned that the bacteria can be fatal within 48 hours. The dangerous bacteria Vibrio vulnificus has been discovered in Sagaponack Pond, Mecox Bay, and Georgica Pond on New York's Long Island. Chris Gobbler stated that this bacteria can be fatal within 48 hours if untreated. Bacteria was detected in neighborhood water following a contractor accidentally introducing a cement mixture into a water pipe.
